I have a few quilts under my belt but I still look things up to help me achieve the best results on my projects. I'm picky and I hate ripping out! The Quilter's Bible puts everything I need in one book. For me, this comprehensive manual is an essential for my quilting-book library. In my opinion, it covers all the quilting tools and techniques that I will ever need. In fact, there are methods that I've never seen before. I cannot praise and recommend this resource enough! Thank you, Linda Clements!The "Look Inside" feature is helpful in giving a clue about what is contained in this book but it is only a teaser of what you can expect within its 256 pages! Check out the table of contents to aid you in determining the topics covered.To enable the novice quilter, or anyone really, get set up for quilting, the book begins by outlining the basic tools and equipment needed for quilting. Clements lists a "Basic Tool Kit," which specifies 20 must-haves. With the exception of a sewing machine and its accessories, all can be obtained at a well-stocked craft/fabric store or quilt shop. If like me, you live in an area that has little to offer in this regard, I have had good luck obtaining a couple things I've needed (actually I've seen all of the recommended items) here on Amazon. **I don't know about sewing machines found on Amazon*** Every tool in the "kit" is explained in detail to help in choosing the right ones. Rest assured, there is complete coverage of: fabric selection; 26 patchwork techniques; 16 forms of applique; 17 quilting methods; six finishing techniques; and suggestions for further reading. Some of the techniques that I have never seen or heard of are: Seminole patchwork, Bargello patchwork, Shisha applique, Sashiko quilting, and Kantha quilting; all are interesting and beautiful.A really neat bonus are the "Make It Now" segments. These are useful projects, which allow me to practice techniques. There are 13 projects to create, using the following skills: English paper piecing; hand sewing; adding trim; log cabin blocks; machine quilting; mitered borders; binding; Seminole patchwork; prairie points; fusible applique; crazy patchwork; decorative embroidery stitches; puffed patchwork; yo-yos; gathered edging; needle-turn applique; big stitch quilting; simple bag making; piecing squares; blanket stitch edging; hand quilting; binding; bias strip applique; bagging-out; making hang loops; marking a quilt pattern; whipped big stitch; French knots; and Sashiko quilting.There are literally hundreds of photos and diagrams. All the instructions are written in clear and easy to understand language. The samples of quilts illustrating the various techniques are gorgeous and inspiring.

Lots of tips and diagrams but not as extensive as the title would have you believe. Some of the tips are helpful but lacking in detail. Enjoyed the Sashiko section. But lots of the info was about paper piecing, patchwork, “crafty-things”and cushions, which I wasn’t really interested in. The directions are helpful but you need to be somewhat experienced to follow. Will keep as reference.

I'm new to quilting and this book is great guide to getting started. Since I've only had one quilting class, this book helped me in understanding some basic quilting lingo and explaining all the tools of the trade. It has a small section on color combinations which is very useful. Overall a great book and a great tool to have if you're starting out.

A wonderful book with years of knowledge you can not find in most books, well worth a read for a beginner or a advanced quilter

Great book. Especially for someone who is revisiting quilting.

I consider this book a good addition to my collection, The layout has lots of bullets, short paragraphs that are succinct, good diagrams, colorful pictograms, and covers quilting techniques as expected. Good learning tool.

This book is written well and illustrated with beautiful pictues. I haven't read it thoroughly yet, because I have been quilting for ages, but I plan to give this to my granddaughter who is starting to quilt. It looks like the procedures are all good ones to give accurate results, and there are plenty of ideas in the book to stimulate creativity.

A very good book for beginning quilters. I already have a copy, but bought another one as a gift for a friend that wants to learn to quilt!
